Beginner incense set: what should be inside?
A good beginner incense set should not be a random mix of bestsellers. It should teach the nose.

The goal is to help someone understand what they like: soft floral wood, dry sandalwood, bright resin, ritual woods, or subtle background scent. If every stick is strong and sweet, the set does not teach much.
A useful beginner set might include:
| Scent role | What it teaches | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Soft evening scent | Floral wood can be gentle | Lavender Sandalwood |
| Grounding wood | Sandalwood can feel quiet and steady | Mysore Root Sandalwood |
| Bright resin | Frankincense can make a room feel clean | Oman Frankincense |
| Modern ritual wood | Cedar, sage, and palo santo can feel focused | Cedar Sage Ritual |
| Light floral | Rose can be soft instead of sugary | Rose Tea Drift |
| Strong dry wood | Palo santo is not for everyone, and that is useful to learn | Palo Santo Wood |
The set should also teach safe use. Include a heat-resistant holder, or clearly tell the customer what kind of holder they need. Tell them to burn within sight, keep away from pets and fabric, and use incense in a ventilated room.
A starter set is most useful when the scents are clearly different from one another. Think of it as a scent map: evening, study, guests, ritual, tea, and strong wood. After trying each direction, you should know which full-size incense makes sense for you.
