The tray itself is a five star piece of porcelain. The wire hanger takes a little patience to center so the plate hangs straight, but once it is up, it looks exceptionally classy against a white wall.
Product photos looked nice, but in person the depth of color is far better. It has a real ceramic weight, not thin pottery. The gold accents on the tiny green book spines catch the light in a subtle, tasteful way.
Sent this together with two paperback novels to my sister for her birthday. She immediately placed it on her study desk with the wooden stand. She told me she spent five minutes just running her fingers over the raised books and shelves, the texture is wonderful.
I paired this tray with my horizontal incense box on my desk. The ash cleans off the glossy ceramic surface effortlessly, and having the cozy green library scene under my incense makes my morning journaling session feel extra special.
The details are exquisite and the porcelain has a pleasant, heavy feel. Just keep in mind that because of the cork backing, it cannot go in the dishwasher. A quick wipe with a damp microfiber cloth cleans it up fine though.
I keep this on my nightstand to hold my reading glasses, earrings, and lip balm. I actually set this ceramic tray inside an older wooden tray as a base so small items never roll off. Glancing at the cozy library artwork before turning off the lights always puts me in a good mood.
Honestly planned to use this as an entryway catchall for my keys and wallet, but once I unpacked it and saw the relief details on the book spines, I could not bear to cover it up. Put it on the wall in our hallway instead. The cork on the back keeps it from clattering against the paint.
Most decorative trays online are lightweight wood with splintery edges. These porcelain plates feel like heirloom ceramics. I already bought three styles: this library cat design sits by my reading chair for teas and biscuits, the koi one lives on the entryway console for keys, and the mandala is in our bathroom holding perfumes.
I hung this right beside my reading armchair using the included spring hanger. The books and potted plants have this lovely raised relief, so when the afternoon lamp hits it, the three dimensional effect really looks like a miniature oil painting.
